Sunday School
“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” – Proverbs 22:6.
Our Sunday School plays a vital role to train our children and help them to grow in christian faith. With the motto of “Come to Jesus, bring every child to Jesus”, we aim to guide our children towards Christ and help them build a strong relationship with Jesus so that they can carry on courageously and successfully throughout their lives.
At present, we have 5 classes – Seniors, Juniors, Sub Juniors and Primary and Eaglets, with a total of over 19 students. We meet every week before the usual church gathering for an hour. The entire Sunday school session comprises of prayer, singing session, memory verses, and then the regular classes which is based on Marthoma Sunday School Samajam curriculum. Annual examination is conducted based on the lessons taught.
Our children gets opportunity to participate in church activities like bible reading, sharing the word of God through messages, group songs, skit and other performances. All the Sunday school activities are coordinated by a team led by Mrs. Susan Ninan (Superintendent) with the guidance of our Vicar.
Youth Fellowship
“May our sons in their youth be like plants full grown, our daughters like corner pillars cut for the structure of a palace;” – Psalms 144:12
Our Youth Fellowship group exists to establish meaningful relationships between the adults, students and members of the church for God’s glory. The Youth Fellowship’s vision is to share the message of the Lord and to learn and grow spiritually in Him. The Youth Fellowship is led under the guidance of our Vicar as well as Vice President, Joel Philip and Secretary, Abiya Shibu. The Fellowship hopes to obtain growth in the church as a family, one with God. The Fellowship provides youth with a way to connect to God and each other.
Church Choir
“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. 3 Oh, magnify the name of the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together.” Psalm 34: 1 -3
Music has always played an important role in the worship of God’s people. The Church Choir helps to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through song, encouraging believers in their walk with Christ. Choir leads the congregation in worship and provide an avenue through which individuals may share their gift and be an integral part of the worship service. Under the leadership of Mrs. Suji Thomas, choir meets every week for selecting, learning and practicing songs for the upcoming worship service. We are grateful to all members of the choir who support with vocals and instruments.
Women's Fellowship (Marthoma Sevika Sanghom)
“Blessed is she, who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!” Luke 1:45
The Mar Thoma Suvisesha Sevika Sanghom (Women’s fellowship) was inaugurated during the Maramon Convention in the year 1919, under the leadership of late Abraham Mar Thoma Metropolitan, who gave the Sanghom continued support and inspiration. Every woman of the Mar Thoma church above 18 years old is a member of the Sevika Sanghom. Marthoma Sevika Sanghom is blessed with very active and dedicated members who provide wholehearted support for the spiritual development of our church and its activities.
Here in Sacramento, the women’s fellowship meets every second Tuesday of each month on Zoom. Mrs. Mary Manu leads and co-ordinates this gathering. Reverend Jinu John is currently leading the devotional and the group is studying on the book of 2nd John as the host takes initiative for discussions. Every meeting gives significant importance for singing session, intercessory prayer and fellowship. This platform gives an opportunity to learn, share experiences and care each other, testify Jesus Christ and to grow spiritually.
Mar Thoma Voluntary Evangelist Association (Edavaka Mission)
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age”. Mathew 28: 19, 20
The Mar Thoma Voluntary Evangelistic Association founded in 1924, inspired by the message of late Abraham Marthoma Metropolitan – “Every Marthomite is a voluntary evangelist.” The primary objective of this organization is to lead every member of the Church to a spirit-filled and witnessing Christian life, whatever his occupation may be. In other words, every member of the Church should be a missionary – filled with such joy and assurance of salvation as to be Christ’s witness to those who come into contact with him, irrespective of one’s profession in secular life.
MTVEA – Sacramento is the branch of the Western Regional Mar Thoma Voluntary Evangelists Association. The group conducts monthly tele-prayer and bible study. Also, we meet together as cottage fellowship, for singing sessions, intercessory prayer, Bible study and sharing experiences in any of fellow members home. Mr.Sara Varghese leads and co-ordinates all activities of Edavaka mission.
